Einige Fahrzeuge verfügen über eine Notbremsfunktion namens ESS (emergency stop signal). Hierbei wird der nachfolgende Verkehr bei Notbremsungen über 50 km/h durch ein schnelles Warnblinksignal gewarnt. Die normale Blinkfrequenz entspricht ca. 85 x pro Minute, ein ESS-Signal ist bei 220 x pro Minute.
